Peter met Paige on a ski hill in Iran in 1994 and proposed two months later, then left the country that same year to build a life with more opportunity. His first job in Toronto paid $5 an hour at a Petro-Canada station; the couple’s first home was a 200-square-foot apartment above a store on the Danforth. “We had absolutely nothing,” Peter told HELLO! Canada. “But we had each other.”

Peter Torkan is the founder of The Agency Toronto and one of Canada’s most recognized luxury real estate brokers. Over more than twenty years in Toronto real estate, Peter has represented buyers and sellers at the top of the market and co-founded The Agency’s Toronto brokerage.

He is known for bold negotiation, unshakable determination and a tireless commitment to excellence. His clients, from first-time luxury buyers to some of the most discerning families and investors in the world, rely on his market expertise and focus to achieve their goals at the price they want.

Before real estate, Peter studied IT and Electronics at the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen in Germany. At Sony he quickly became the number one salesperson in Canada. In his first year in real estate, he rose to number eight in his entire brokerage. His specialties range from ultra-luxury estates to development and new construction in York Mills, Forest Hill, Lawrence Park and The Bridle Path.

His honours include a Lifetime Achievement Award, a Hall of Fame Award, and multiple Titan, Chairman and Platinum awards. In 2024, Peter and his wife and business partner Paige Torkan starred in Prime Video’s Luxe Listings Toronto, streamed in more than 240 countries and territories.

Peter was a listing broker for the C$35 million full-floor penthouse at The One, which Forbes reported as Toronto’s most expensive listing in December 2022. Today Peter is also co-founder and CEO of HouseMe.ai, a voice-first AI real estate platform, and the author of The Inner Contract: From Survival to Certainty.
